Ear Irrigation

Overview

Gentle Ear Irrigation for Kids

Does your kid experience hearing problems? Or he or she suffers from ear pain? Chances are they have excessive ear buildup. Let us help them with our safe ear irrigation services.

What is Ear Irrigation?

Ear irrigation refers to the process of removing excess earwax, foreign materials, and cerumen from the ear. The ear produces wax to lubricate and safeguard the ear as well as to restrict the entry of debris and prevent bacterial growth. However, sometimes the excessive secretion of earwax or hardened earwax can lead to ear blockage, causing pain, ringing in the ear, or temporary loss of hearing. Apart from the buildup of wax, sometimes foreign elements like insects, food, debris, or small stones enter the ear. These objects are also removed by ear irrigation. If wax buildup is the problem, a syringe-like tool will be used by your GP to insert water or saline mixture into the ear to flush out the buildup. Besides, ear drops are available at the pharmacy to remove ear wax at home although you should see your doctor if it doesn’t work.

When to See A Pediatrician?

You should visit your pediatrician if an OTC medication for ear wax removal doesn’t work. Also consult your pediatrician if your kid experiences dizziness, deafness, ringing in the ear, or pain in the ear. Caution: Don’t use cotton buds in your kid’s ear as they can push the wax deeper and even lead to complications in the ear canal or drum.
